What We Do For You
R.K. Woodworking Specialists Ltd.'s standard features include: fully sanded balusters,
posts, nosing, treads, stringers, and railings ready for finishing
Solid oak plugs (not putty)
no metal under the railing (instead we use solid wood filler to make for an all-round professional finish)
twist and curved railings are solid oak (not laminated on a form)
heavier stringers (thicker and wider)
more glue blocks (to strengthen risers under each tread thereby reducing vibration)
veneered edges on stringers
and multiple available, customizable nosing styles.
Our optional features include: cove moulding under each tread
oak veneer on the back of circular stairs
and stair accent brackets.
- Installations
- Rather than shipping pre-assembled staircases, we prefer to assemble your new oak staircase on site to ensure the best fit possible.
- Rails are installed with built in posts whenever possible for maximum strength, which translates into a life time of service without coming loose.
- Cladding
- Using the same hardwood stair treads we use in a brand new oak staircase, we can clad your existing stairway to make it look like a new install – not like a staircase that has just been covered! This saves you mess and disruption, not to mention savings in stairs, partitions and drywall tear-out (and re-building).
- Do it Yourself
- Based on your specifications, we can supply you with hardwood stair and rail kits complete with instructions to allow you to install yourself in a professional manner.
- Stair and Railing Repairs
- Do you have a squeaky, creaky or cracked oak or other hardwood stair or railing? If you do, we'll surely do everything we can to fix it!
